Michael Powell Power Yoga 2000-To Date |
| Tuesday evenings: 19:00 - 20:00
Yoga with J.C. is an invigorating style of movement. It is based around strength and flexibility, also known as Power Yoga. *You will need to bring your own mat please!* Yoga with J.C. is an active and athletic style of yoga adapted from the traditional ashtanga system (six established and strenuous pose sequences.) Power yoga doesn't stick to the same sequence of poses each time like ashtanga does, so the style varies depending on the teacher. Janine has been practicing this vigorous type of yoga for over 10 years. She started teaching in 2009 after completing a 2 year teaching course with YFNI. If you’re looking to burn, this is the workout for you. Isometric movements recruit every muscle in the body, which sparks metabolism and results in more calories burned. There's plenty of toning and lean muscle building for your core, legs, and glutes. "Each session improves your posture and creates more confidence, which breeds self-empowerment," says Rudy Mettia, founder of Corporalita Power Yoga in Los Angeles. Janine likes to concentrate on elongating the body, applying a sense of grace to each movement. Whether you are a complete novice or an athlete, there is always room for refinement. The beginner’s class will focus on getting to know the basics and developing a sense of style. The intermediate/advanced level will progress onto exploring variations of each pose and work towards accomplishing more challenging postures. Introductory Classes starting in August, £5 per class. Courses running in September. What to bring: Mat essential. Water, towel and blanket optional :) |
