TWO GREAT SAGES

WORKSHOPS ON THEIR LIVES AND TEACHINGS

      SANTOSHA YOGA STUDIO LISBURN

Saturday 22 July and Saturday 19 August (10.00-1.00)

Michael McCann will give two summer workshops on the lives of two of India’s most renowned yogis:Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi(1879-1949) and Sri Ramakrishna(1836-1886).

Workshop of 22 July

Sri Ramakrishna

Sri Ramakrishna was born in Bengal, and had mystical experiences and ecstasies as a young boy.  As a devotee of the Hindu Goddess Kali he mastered all the Yoga paths with ease and then immersed himself in other religious traditions- including Christianity and Islam. He reached the peak of mystical experience in these paths and testified first-hand that they all lead to the same summit.  His story is filled with fascinating experiences and inspirational teachings.

Workshop of 19 August

Ramana Maharshi

Ramana Maharshi was enlightened from youth, after a death-like experience, which gave him the realisation that there is a part of us which is deathless. He left home and followed a call to Arunachala, a sacred mountain in South India renowned for its associations with Shiva. He attracted a growing number of devotees, which continues to this day. The Maharshi’s teachings are pure Gyana Yoga and centred on the mysterious question: “Who am I?”

The Maharshi’slife is filled with wonder and enigma, including a beautiful rapport with animals akin to Saint Francis.

Each workshop will cover key events and teachings of the two sages along with archive photographs. The workshops will be interspersed with a mixture of subtle practice, and everyone is welcome to one or both mornings.
